Blizzard

The last few days has felt like Antarctica here. On Wednesday it started raining, then snowing and most of all blowing. The power went out about 6:00 on Wednesday night and didn't come back until Thursday evening. All of the stores are closed because no one had any power. Things are finally opening up today, but the country people are still snowed in. We got about 12-18 inches of snow and then it blew all over the place, so we have 4 to 5 foot drifts in our yard. One thing I learned is how much we depend on electricity. Our gas furnace still worked up until last night when it ran out of propane. We have lots of blankets, so we still kept warm. We also found some electric heaters to heat us up as well. I am excited to get to the store soon to replenish our supplies. Here are some pictures of our drifts.

Still Alive

Hello dear readers. I am sorry that I haven't been keeping up with everything. Here is what we have been doing in the last two months. We enjoyed having Tyson and Whitney come and visit us. We went camping and had a great time.

Other than these exciting times, we really haven't been doing much. Bri seems to be getting bigger by the second. For part Pitt bull, she is very very sweet. She loves to be close to us all the time and will follow us around the house to be close. As far as making messes, she has been very good, only a few a week. Soon I will be able to shampoo my carpets.

Well, I will let this be all for now. Remember that we are also thinking about those who are going through some rough times and those who are going through exciting times. Have a wonderful fall.

Our Dog

Well, As I promised:

Presenting Bri (pronounced Bree, like the cheese). Currently weighing in at 13 or so pounds. Cute, sometimes cuddly, and very energetic. Loves grapes, carrots, bark, twigs and chews on most everything. In three weeks she has doubled in size, and continues to grow by the second. This is when she was smaller.

We took her out on the boat the other day, and she got to go for her first swim. I think she liked it, but was a little nervous. She wanted to jump in really bad, but then wanted out very quickly. She swims very well for such a small thing. Anyway, look forward to more pictures of her in the future, as she is our only child at the moment. :)

Technology: Great, but not dependable

Well, I would have given an update sooner, but we had a small computer crash, so I am now using Old Betsey until I can fix the other one. The sad thing is that my pictures are on the other computer, so I will have to dig up some old ones from this computer to share.

The newest thing here is that we got a puppy, Bri. It is part black lab, pit bull and something else. She is very cute and is sweet most of the time (like when she is sleeping). :) The greatest lesson I have learned is good things take time. Every time she makes a mess I want more and more for her to be an old sweet dog who obeys and goes to the bathroom outside. Some say it is training us for our own children, except the fact that kids go to the bathroom in one place, and it is easier to clean up. Also, I don't think we will have a problem with our kids biting our ankles or chewing on our shoes. :)

Other than that, Graham and I just are working away. We did get to go to the lake and have some fun last weekend.

This and That

Hello all,

Sorry it has been so long since I have last updated. It seems my evenings are busy with keeping house and my weekends are filled with weddings and conventions. As others have expressed, mom and Dave's wedding was wonderful, and it was so much fun seeing everyone. Graham and I enjoyed playing with our new step niece and nephews, who are some of the cuties kids I must add. We also got to go to Iowa for Brady and Kayla Voorhees's wedding.

Other than that, Graham and I have just been working. Graham's grandparents have come down here from New York for some time with his family and for Hermosa. Bob's birthday was this evening, so we had dinner over there. It is strange to go to go over there and be able to get home in about 6 minutes rather than 5 hours.

In more interesting news, I came home yesterday to be greeted by a injured mouse outside my door on the side walk. I felt bad because he was kind of cute, but I also know how dirty and gross he is, so I did the deed and finished him off. These are the moments when men come in handy. I wasn't scared, but rather grossed out. I also got to go to Reptile Gardens a few weekends ago, which I loved. One of my secrete passions is to go to zoos of any kind, they intrigue me. Some things old, some things new, some things borrowed, but not blue

Well, it feels so good to have everything tucked away and start living. It hasn't been easy, but so worth it in the end. At this point, I would like to announce the in-laws of the year: Bob and Heidi Lewis and family. Without them, I wouldn't have the home I have today. So a very large thank you for cleaning, painting, and fixing things for us. Also thanks to mom for the washer and dryer. It is so nice to have them and I am so excited to be using them.

I have a very nice kitchen with a cute old stove (that still works) and lots of cupboard space. It is fun to live in a house that has such character and history. If you look past the exploding water pipes and age, it is really kind of cute. I have 4 bedrooms and a cute little yard that is very green and shady. I also have a pond with ducks, but I don't know if there is any fish in there. We have a pet rabbit that hangs out right outside the living room window. I also have 2 living rooms, and I am working on getting more furniture in them. Anyway, here are some pictures of our house.

When I went home last weekend Alisa and I had to go up into the hills to reminisce about our child hood days. For some reason Ty loved freaking everyone, mostly mom, out by catching scorpions and de-sting them. We would all go up to a place where past kits had built a fort so there are logs laying on the ground everywhere and look for them. Alisa and I found some. Please keep in mind that these are not like the ones you find down south, but for our area they are pretty big.
